‘Songs from the Sand’ to showcase Devin Dawson
The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau, iHeartMedia and Cat Country 107.1 will present “Songs from the Sand” on May 20 at 8 p.m., hosted by VCB Communications Manager Miriam Dotson.
Available via the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest Facebook page, Instagram and Twitter, plus The Beaches of Fort Myers & Sanibel’s YouTube channel, the virtual concert will feature acoustic music and conversation from Fort Myers Beach as Devin Dawson tells his stories behind the songs.
Dawson is BMI singer-songwriter behind the 2020 Grammy-nominated, 2020 ACM and 2019 CMA Single of the Year “God’s Country,” which he co-wrote for superstar Blake Shelton. Since then, he has topped the charts as a featured artist alongside Lauren Alaina on HARDY’s “One Beer,” earning an ACM nomination for “Best Music Event of the Year” in April. His latest release, “The Pink Slip EP,” follows his critically acclaimed debut album, “Dark Horse.”
Songs from the Sand is a chance to preview the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest, set for Sept. 17-26 on Captiva, in historic downtown Fort Myers and on Fort Myers Beach. For now, on the third Thursday of every month, Songs from the Sofa — or the similar Songs from the Sand — provides an exciting way to experience a quality performance at home.
