The School District of Lee County will again offer summer extended learning this year.

Elementary Teaching and Learning Director Dr. Bethany Quisenberry said it is their biggest opportunity for expanded learning for kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

The district will invite all students to access the program virtually for five weeks, which will follow iReady student learning path. A teacher will be assigned to the student to provide intervention if not passing lessons or need additional help.

The summer offerings on campus will include third-grade reading camp, fourth-grade ELL science camp, fourth- to eighth-grade STEM camp, extended school year for kindergarten through 12th grade, and Head Start and VPK. Those offered through virtual include algebra I and geometry boot camp, algebra readiness, ELL summer learning, iReady expanded learning K-8, initial credit and credit recovery and Kids Read Now for second graders.

Last year, the district reached 15,000 students. This year, there is a goal of 25,000 students.
