Fort Myers Film Festival confers ‘best of’ awards

The 11th Annual Fort Myers Film Festival concluded on May 16 with an awards ceremony and after-party held in the new sculptural garden atop the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center in Fort Myers.

It awarded “best of” in the following categories:

– Best Feature: “Pooling to Paradise”

– Best Short: “About Frances”

– Best Short Short: “Hot Dog Steering Wheel”

– Best Local Film: “The Last Weekend”

– Best Environmental Film: “The Wild Divide”

– Best Student Film: “Painting by Numbers”

– Best Documentary: “The Lost Film of Nuremberg”

In addition, the festival bestowed Lifetime Achievement in Filmmaking Awards to K.C. Schulberg and Sandra Schulberg, along with a Humanitarian Award to death camp liberator, author and poet Robert Hilliard, of Sanibel. Another Sanibel resident, festival Program Director Leslie Cimino, was one of the associate producers for the Best Feature winner, “Pooling to Paradise.”
