Trailways Camp recognizes island businesses
The Annual “I AM SPECIAL” Trailways Camper Reunion set for April 10 was postponed due to COVID-19 concerns, but the planning committee chose to celebrate some of the Sanibel businesses that have made the event possible in the past. Camp co-founder Jerry Miller said, “These businesses were recognized for welcoming and supporting adults with special needs living and working in our community through their annual contributions of time, service and in kind donations. The support provided has made it possible for the campers to have social and activity experiences that bring joy to their lives.” Miller and his wife, Sharon, along with camp coordinator Anna Mullvain, recently visited Bailey’s General Store, Cedar Chest Fine Jewelry, Island Ballroom, Jerry’s Foods, Sanibel Cafe, Sanibel Deli, Sanibel Skin Spa and Shalimar Resort to present each business with a plaque of appreciation, camp mug and personal thank you note from the family of Benjamin Miller, honorary event chair in past years. An announcement will be made when the 2022 camp date is finalized.
