A new session to its after-school lineup, the Sanibel Sea School will offer After School Canoeing starting on April 20. It has traditionally offered canoeing during select weeks of summer camp, but it has decided to host an entire series on the popular activity.

Participants will learn canoeing basics and hone their paddling skills while exploring the waters of Sanibel. They will learn how to do basic paddling strokes to maneuver the boat and play some fun on-the-water games.

“Canoeing is a great way to reach places on the water that we can’t get to by foot,” Education Programs Manager Shannon Stainken said. “We’ll be keeping our eyes out for dolphins, manatees and even stingrays.”

The four-session series will be held on Tuesdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Participants can register for one session or sign up for the whole series.

All after-school sessions are $20 per student. Scholarships are available.
