The Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club will host the inaugural “King of the Rock” Sanibel Stroke Play Championship on April 17 at the Dunes Golf & Tennis Club, at 949 Sand Castle Road, Sanibel.

Open to players of all skill levels, the tourney will provide an opportunity to play 18 holes of “tournament golf” and to compete for recognition as a top golfer. It is being organized with men’s and women’s divisions. Players will be grouped into flights and assigned to use tees I, II, III and IV based on their handicap. Players may request to compete in the championship flight, from which the overall tournament champion will be named.

The round of golf will include lunch and a presentation of prizes and trophies to the top finishers.

Entry fee is $125 per player plus tax; checks should be made out to the Kiwanis Foundation. Proceeds will benefit the Kiwanis Scholarship Fund, which provides educational assistance to island youth.

To enter, visit www.sanibelkiwanis.org or stop by the Dunes Golf Shop.

Major sponsors include Sanibel Captiva Community Bank, Coastal Title, Superior Title Services, Pfeifer Realty Services, Midland Trust, Ron Souders and John Schubert. Hole and corporate sponsorships are available to interested businesses and individuals.
