SAN CAP BANK NAMED AWARD FINALIST

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has been named a finalist for the Uncommon Friends Foundation’s Business Ethics Award.

The award recognizes organizations that exemplify standards of high ethical behavior in conducting their daily operations, as well as during times of crises.

Nominations are reviewed by a panel of experts in the field of ethical business practices.

The winner will be announced later in the year.

The finalists and chief executive officers of Lee and Collier businesses were scheduled to participate in a Business Ethics Roundtable on April 21 at The Burroughs Home in Fort Myers.

COTI SELECTS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS

The Committee of the Islands held its annual membership meeting on March 20 via Zoom and elected Edward Holden to a first term and Peter Walcott to a second term as directors.

At its regular meeting on April 12, COTI’s board elected the following officers: President Larry Schopp, Vice President Christine Andrews, Walcott as secretary, and Treasurer Chet Sadler.

In addition to serving as president, Schopp will continue to chair the Land Use Policy Committee, while Andrews will remain responsible for managing the Website and systems.

Membership is open to the public and new members are always welcome.

SAN CAP BANK PROVIDES PPP LOANS

Sanibel Captiva Community Bank has processed more than 1,100 loans totaling just over $109 million under the Small Business Administration’s Paycheck Protection Program.

Launched in April 2020 to address economic challenges caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the program provides forgivable government-guaranteed loans for small businesses.

In the first round of the program, the bank processed 766 loans for nearly $70 million. In the current round, almost 350 additional loans have been secured for $37 million.

The average loan amount processed was just under $100,000. Loan amounts ranged from as low as $500 to more than $3.7 million.

MUDDELL EARNS CFP DESIGNATION

Jeffrey A. Muddell, senior vice president and wealth services advisor at The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, was recently awarded the Certified Financial Planner certification. The designation confirms that he is a highly trained financial services professional who can provide clients guidance in areas ranging from estate planning and insurance to risk management and retirement.

Muddell joined the company in 2019 and has worked closely with many clients, focusing a large part of his efforts on new client development as well as financial planning services. He previously worked in nonprofit management and philanthropy, most recently as system director of gift planning for the Lee Health Foundation.

Muddell holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Florida’s Warrington School of Business and earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Miami, having begun his professional career in broadcasting and journalism.
