Commissioner retires from Sanibel library district’s board

The Sanibel Public Library District Board of Commissioners recently announced the retirement of Commissioner and Treasurer Dr. Linda Estep.
“Linda has served the library well in many capacities over the years, and we thank her for that and for her service to Sanibel and to Florida,” board President Melanie Congress said.
Estep had served on the board for two years and recently took on the role of treasurer, overseeing a $2 million annual budget. Prior to that, she was part of the Sanibel Public Library Foundation’s Board of Directors and helped lead the organization as it provided close to $1 million in grants to the library for enhancements to activities like Author Series, Youth Summer Reading Program, technology initiatives and, most recently, the Your Library Reimagined renovation.
Estep began as a volunteer at the library more than 10 years ago, bringing her skills as a teacher and school administrator to help organize areas of the public collection and support visiting authors and children’s programming in particular.
“Linda has been a big advocate through the years and all of us have benefitted from her devotion to the Sanibel Public Library — encouraging implementation of pilot projects, new services and staff continuing education,” library Executive Director Margaret Mohundro said.
The board will appoint a replacement for the seat.
