As a way to keep its congregation and the public safe from the COVID-19 pandemic, the Captiva Chapel by the Sea will have its Easter Sunday celebration as an online video presentation on April 4.

For the program, videographer Chris Bright will weave in sacred music and views of the chapel from the air, in addition to the readings, sermon and various announcements. To watch the video, visit www.captivachapel.com and click “Watch Online.” It will also be posted to the chapel Facebook page.

Officials reported that the chapel is adept at outdoor services and has had close to 190 people on folding chairs in the yard most Sundays, surrounded by speakers in the trees. Pastor Larry Marshall has been preaching his sermon from the porch steps. Handouts rather than hymnals and Bibles are used, and the chairs are disinfected after each service. All attendees have been masked and the folding chairs are spaced so that each group has that 6-foot distance from the next.

The Maundy Thursday service is on April 1 at 4 p.m. and the Good Friday is on April 2 at noon.

Open seasonally, the chapel will hold outdoor services through the end of April.

All are welcome.

The Captiva Chapel by the Sea is at 11580 Chapin Lane, Captiva.
