Total reported COVID-19 cases for Sanibel passes 200
UPDATE: As of today’s update, Sanibel’s total number of recorded cases has increased to 209; Captiva remains at seven.
Lee County has recorded 52,653 total cases of COVID-19 — 50,964 residents and 1,689 non-residents — including 214 between Sanibel and Captiva, according to the Florida Department of Health.
As of the Jan. 31 update, the DOH reported that it has recorded a total of 1,721,377 cases in Florida. The figure consists of 1,689,700 residents who tested positive, along with 31,677 non-residents.
There have been 26,479 deaths among Florida residents — 1.6 percent of the total cases.
There have been 794 deaths among residents in Lee — 1.6 percent of the total cases.
