The Children’s Education Center of the Islands announced that teacher Christie Shiley recently received the title of a Master Gardener. She plans and implements the center’s yearly “Garden Club,” which has become a highlight of its afternoon programming. With Shiley’s guidance, the CECI is now looking for volunteers for the planning and implementation of a butterfly and sensory garden. There is a circular garden at the building’s entrance with potential, and the center is hoping to incorporate the interests of its students with the planting of the gardens. To volunteer or donate to the project, contact Executive Director Kerra Cook at 239-472-4538 or kerraceci@gmail.com.
