Reported number of COVID-19 cases increases on Sanibel
UPDATE: The Florida Department of Health reported today that the number of cases on Sanibel rose by one to 94.
Lee County has recorded 32,209 total cases of COVID-19 — 31,458 residents and 751 non-residents — including 96 cases between Sanibel and Captiva, according to the Florida Department of Health.
As of the Dec. 6 update, the DOH reported that it has recorded a total of 1,058,074 cases in Florida. The figure consists of 1,040,727 residents who tested positive, along with 17,347 non-residents.
There have been 19,177 deaths among Florida residents — 1.9 percent of the total cases.
There have been 598 deaths among residents in Lee — 1.9 percent of the total cases.
