Rotary Club to host Annual Arts and Crafts Fair
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club’s Annual Arts and Crafts Fair will return on Feb. 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Feb. 16 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle, Sanibel.
Organizers of the 37th annual festival expect some 7,000 visitors to flood the grounds. The juried show offers over 100 artists and crafters, exhibitors, cultural jewelers and booths and activities relating to health, life enrichment and disaster relief education.
The festival is Rotary’s largest fundraiser and an island tradition dating to the 1980s.
“Proceeds are used for island education, outreach and select Rotary works, and in clean water, sanitation, disease eradication and conflict resolution throughout the world,” event Chair Scot Congress said.
The club also funds world programs to provide wheelchairs, erase poverty and promote vocational training. Miracles in Action in Guatemala is one program that serves the impoverished in the Central American country; representatives from the group will be at the festival.
Apparel with designs by icon and artist Ikki Matsumoto will be available for sale. There will also be a silent auction of some 150 donated art items, merchandise, restaurant and hotel certificates and more.
The food court will feature award-winning food from Little Joe’s.
A $5 donation is requested; vehicles will be directed to the free parking.
