#LCTCRockTheRoad campaign kicks off for first-time drivers

The Lee County Tax Collector kicked off a first-time campaign, #LCTCRockTheRoad, for first-time drivers on July 15, which includes an Instagram contest.
“Just about every kid grows up dreaming of that day they can finally drive,” Lee County Tax Collector Larry Hart said in a prepared statement. “We’re already part of that experience for people, so why not be part of the fun, too?”
Lee County Tax Collector Communications Director spokesperson Chris Bright said over the last 12 months they have been actively engaging the community on social media a lot more.
“One of the demographics that we have been wanting to reach more is the younger demographics,” he said. “First-time drivers in Lee County, the number is staggering. They all have to come to us to get their permits and license. We want to reach them directly as an educational piece (while tying) into the younger demographics.”
The contest is being held to help “lucky winners get where they’re going on their dream road trip.”
“So far we have seen some real positives. We will keep campaigning over the next six months,” he said.
The #LCTCRockTheRoad Instagram contest, which will run through Oct. 15, is open to new Lee County drivers who received their license within the last three months, as well as those who have had their learner permits for at least three months.
“This is a contest base platform that Conric PR & Marketing is managing,” Bright said.
To enter, the individual, aging into their learners permit up to 18 years old, must follow the Lee County Tax Collector on Instagram @leecountytaxcollector, like any of the official Lee County Tax Collector #LCTCRockTheRoad contest posts, as well as tag two friends in the comments, either in their photo, or a contest post that they liked.
Photos, or an image, can be posted by entrants of their dream road trip using the hashtag #LCTCRockTheRoad for an extra chance to win.
Those without Instagram accounts can enter atwww.leetc.com/driver-license/rock-the-road and read the complete list of rules and restrictions.
A variety of different prizes will be provided during the entire life of the campaign. Bright said the winners will be picked at random and notified on a monthly basis.
“There are over 14,000, what we are calling first- time drivers, here in Lee County that would qualify for this contest,” he said. “It is a first for us in terms of us targeting this demographic and getting to know them. We want that to be an open line of communication.”
Bright said since these first-time drivers have to come to them, they want to make sure they are informed about the freedom and responsibility of driving.
“Your license means freedom and independence, and we’re here to help you get it,” Hart said in a prepared statement. “Anything we can do to make our service more convenient and put a smile on your face, we’ll do.”
