F.I.S.H. provides transportation for islanders

F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva’s Transportation Program is a resource available year-round to on-island neighbors who are without vehicles or who are unable to drive.
Participants can request rides to on-island and off-island, non-emergency medical and dental appointments and for transportation for on-island errands, such as grocery shopping and banking.
The Transportation Program is a complimentary program operated by F.I.S.H. volunteers, who provided 183 rides in 2018. The drivers provide a door-to-door, personalized transportation service, taking individuals to and from appointments and waiting with them until they are ready to return home.
F.I.S.H. tries to fulfill every ride request, however, occasionally the demand for rides exceeds the supply of drivers. F.I.S.H. suggests at least a 72-hour advance request for all rides. Drivers confirm all ride requests the day before the appointment; participants will be notified as soon as possible if rides cannot be arranged so they can make other arrangements.
