The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, presents the following:

Community Social

A Community Social will take place on July 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. with theme of “Rib Night.” The menu will feature: pork rinds, sweetcorn salad and Brunswick stew for starters; baby back ribs, St. Louis style ribs and country style spare ribs for entrees; and black-eyed peas and rice, collard greens and corn bread, and macaroni and cheese for sides. For a $5 donation, the desserts will include an ice cream sundae bar, chocolate brownies and root beer floats. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door.

Kids Summer Cooking

Open to youth ages 8-14, Resident Chef Jarred Harris will hold the annual Kids Summer Cooking Classes and Camp on July 29-Aug. 2 from 9 a.m. to noon and on Aug. 5-9 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The first week will cover:

– July 29: Kitchen orientation and breads, soups and salsas

– July 30: Pizzas and pastas

– July 31: Team challenge

– Aug. 1: Desserts

– Aug. 2: Team challenge

The second week will cover:

– Aug. 5: Thailand, with fresh ingredients and flavor

– Aug. 6: India, with spices and herbs

– Aug. 7: China, with rice and noodles

– Aug. 8: France, with cookies, cakes and pasties

– Aug. 9: Africa, with coco and spice

The registration fees are $50 per day or $250 for a week, which includes lunch.

The deadlines to sign up are July 19 at noon for week one and July 26 at noon for week two.

For a $5 donation, the desserts will include an ice cream sundae bar and baklava. Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door.

The Community House is selling honey harvested from its hive, along with other products made by Resident Chef Jarred Harris.
