The annual Summer Sunday Seminar Series at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ features a chance to explore timely topics through talks, videos and discussion.

Free and open to the public, each seminar is at 9 a.m. in Heron Hall at the church.

On June 16, Michelle McKay of Global Ministries will be the guest speaker. As a mission co-worker with the ecumenical National Spiritual Council of Churches of Haiti, she teaches conversational English to high school students in Port au Prince. She is taking on a role through which she supports church projects throughout Haiti. Associate Pastor Rev. Deb Kunkel will host and facilitate the seminar. She is organizing an October trip to the Dominican Republic.

June 23 and June 30 will focus on “Saving Jesus Redux,” a series of videos offering a progressive Christian view of “a credible Jesus for the third millennium.” The June 23 program is “Jesus Through the Ages,” and the topic on June 30 will be “Who Was Jesus?” Contributors to the videos include Brian McLaren, Diana Butler Bass and Robin Meyer, who join Marcus Borg, Walter Brueggemann, John Dominiic Crossan, Amy-Jill Levine, Matthew Fox and a host of others for a conversation around the relevance of Jesus for today. Senior Pastor Rev. Dr. John H. Danner will facilitate the seminars.
