Paddling Tip of the Week

Extreme heat can warp kayak hull materials, so it is important to store your boat away from direct heat sources. Choose a storage location that is well shaded and does not get too hot. You should also ensure that your boat is not left in an area where it could become filled with water during storms or high tides. Paddling Tip of the Week

To reduce the likelihood of sun damage, premature aging and skin cancer, paddlers should wear clothing that covers areas prone to sunburn. Body parts such as the back, scalp, neck and ears require extra protection – sunscreen alone is not always enough. Choose clothing with a UPF rating of 50 or more, or natural fibers in dark colors with a tight weave. Hats and sunglasses are also essential.
