The 32nd edition of The Sanibel-Captiva Nature Calendar is now available.

The cover of the 2020 calendar features a photograph of an osprey with the Sanibel Light in the background by annual island visitor Marianne Bargiotti. The rear cover shows a sunset as seen from Tarpon Bay by islander Theresa Baldwin.

It shows four of the most common water birds and four species of birds found on the shores. Plus, a migrating warbler, a butterfly, an alligator and a blue tang photographed on an off-shore reef – before the red tide outbreak in 2018.

Photographers featured are Theresa Baldwin, Marianne Bargiotti, Cliff Beittel, Peter Hawrylyshyn, Robert Kimbrell, Sara Lopez, Lorraine Sommer, Kyle Sweet, and Don and Deb Thompson. Writers and residents Betty Anholt and Charles LeBuff and Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation Shorebird Program Coordinator Audrey Albrecht have written the monthly photo narratives.

First published in 1988, the calendar is sold only in Southwest Florida. Each photo contains subject information such as: description, nesting, breeding and feeding habits, range, habitat, status, and health.

Each fall a portion of the publisher’s proceeds are donated to a regional conservation organization. Last September, a donation of $500 each was made to the Save the Manatee Club and Turtle Time. To date, the publisher has donated about $24,289 to conservation organizations in Southwest Florida.

Again this year, the calendar will be available, upon request, with a shipping envelope made from trash. Make-ready sheets were saved from the press set-up and used to create custom-fit mailing envelopes.

The calendar retails for $14.95 and is available in book stores and gift shops.

For mail orders, send $14.95 plus $2 shipping and handling to: Sanibel-Captiva Nature Calendar, P.O. Box 356, Sanibel, FL 33957. For the Blind Pass Tide edition, send $17.95 plus the $2.00 S&H.
