State Attorney Amira Fox

Southwest Florida’s newest State Attorney has taken steps to be more connected to the community she serves.

Amira Fox, State Attorney for the Twentieth Judicial Circuit, sworn in in January, has announced the launching of a revamped website along with a Facebook and Instagram account.

“I am excited to bring our office closer to the people we serve. These social media outlets will allow the citizens of Southwest Florida to be more connected to the many things our office handles. Our new website is extremely user friendly to help visitors find what they need,” Fox said in a prepared statement.

She said she finds value in being accessible to the people, and the people have the right to know the workings of the State Attorney’s office.

“Social media will allow a quicker connection to the public,” Fox said via email. “It is very important to me that the citizens of Southwest Florida, the people we serve, see the work our office is doing.”

Why did she decide to give the website a makeover and use social media to become more transparent?

“When I became State Attorney I knew I wanted to continue the great work this office has done and I wanted to further advance us in the area of communication. Social media is that platform,” she said. “I wanted a website that was more user friendly to better assist those utilizing it.”

What does she hope to achieve by doing this?

“I hope the public feels a better connection to the State Attorney’s Office by getting a closer look at the work we do. We average more than 65,000 cases a year and cover five counties, so we have a lot of information to share with the citizens we serve,” Fox said.

You can find her on Facebook by searching “Amira Fox State Attorney” and on Instagram @AmiraFoxStateAttorney.

The new website is still at the same address, www.sao.cjis20.org.
