Island chapel to host Blessing of the Animals

The Captiva Chapel by the Sea will host its Blessing of the Animals on March 31.

All pets and their owners are invited to participate.

The regular service will be held at 11 a.m., with the animals blessed afterward in the churchyard at approximately 11:50 a.m. Share in the tradition that harkens back to Saint Francis of Assisi.

Best pet behavior and leashes are especially encouraged.

Dogs, cats, birds, frogs – all pets, large and small – are welcome to participate, regardless of denomination. If your pet cannot attend the blessing, simply bring a photo of your pet.
