Performing Arts to hold car wash

The Sanibel School’s Performing Arts will hold a car wash fundraiser on Feb. 23 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bank of the Islands, at 1699 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.

The proceeds will benefit the group’s upcoming production of Disney’s “The Little Mermaid Jr.”

The community is invited to stop by and get their vehicle washed by the students.

The Sanibel School, at 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, presents the following:

Students take part in competition

A total of 700 students presenting 650 STEM projects participated in the 62nd Annual Thomas Alva Edison Kiwanis Science and Engineering Fair and the 32nd Annual Thomas A. Edison Festival of Light Regional Inventors Fair on Jan. 19.

Public, private and home-schooled students from around Southwest Florida competed at Alico Arena on the campus of Florida Gulf Coast University.

Students Bailey Drobnyk, J.J. Ignac and Milena Weigel represented The Sanibel School in the Science and Engineering Fair. The youth entered the following projects in the competition:

– Bailey Drobnyk, “Will carrots grow better in the dark?”

– J.J. Ignac, “Will carrots grow better in the dark?”

– Milena Weigel, “Adding compost to sand to make it fertile.”
