Sanibel Island Fishing Club to host monthly meeting
The Sanibel Island Fishing Club will meet on Feb. 12 at 7 p.m. at The Community House, at 2173 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel, with a half-hour social to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The featured speaker will be local offshore Capt. Jim Branca, a licensed and insured USCG Charter Captain Fishing Guide who holds a federal reef and pelagics permit. He will discuss his choice of tackle, bait and the various techniques he uses to target different offshore species.
The meeting is free and open to the public.
Pizza and refreshments will be available at a nominal charge.
The club meets monthly during season and sponsors several group outings, as well as lends support to fishing-related charities and organizations like Captains for Clean Water, the Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation and the Sanibel Sea School.
