Sanibel Community Church set for annual Night to Shine event
Sanibel Community Church will serve as one of 655 churches around the world registered to simultaneously host Night to Shine on Feb. 8, which is sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation.
More than 100 guests ages 14 and older with special needs are registered to take part in the island event, along with over 100 family members and caregivers. In addition, about 200 volunteers will assist at the annual prom event that transforms Valentine’s Day by promoting that each person is special.
This year, Night to Shine events are being hosted in more than dozen countries for approximately 100,000 honored guests, with the help and support of an estimated 200,000 volunteers.
Activities at the Sanibel Community Church will begin with registration, then a visit to the beauty salon and shoe shine station, presentation of corsages and boutonnieres, a limousine ride, walk up the red carpet and personal photo, along with music, dancing, a meal and other activities.
The highlight of the evening will be a special message from Tebow, in which he declares each guest as a king or queen. Crowns will be placed upon each of their heads by their personal one-on-one buddy.
In addition, individual gift bags will be given to each guest as they exit for the evening.
During the event, family members and caregivers will be hosted in Fellowship Hall, where they will receive a meal, have time for fellowship, and engage in activities as the event is streamed live.
Some of the sponsors for the event include: Balloon Smiles, Costco, Donna Leahy, George and Patty Waters, Goodwill Industries of Southwest Florida, Island Ballroom and Entertainment, Island Taxi, Island Therapy Center, James Riley of Music Therapy in St. Petersburg, Jesi Cason Photography, John and Joan Gibble, J.P. Morgan Limos, Mission BBQ, Rogers Media, Ruth Messmer Florist, Sanibel-Captiva Lions Club, Sharon and Jerry Miller, Target, The Pecking Order and Trailways Camps/Robert V. and Benjamin G. Miller Fund.
