Junonia found on Captiva
Robert A. Scire, of New Jersey, found a junonia shell on Jan. 8 near the South Seas Island Resort, where the family has had a timeshare for over 20 years. His father reported that it is the second time his son has found one of the shells, with the first time being a few years ago. He noted that his wife, Nancy, wakes up every morning to walk the beach in search of the elusive junonia when they are in town – and his son just found his second in the middle of an afternoon. He added that he has always regretted not reporting his son’s first find, so he felt compelled to share the second one this time. The larger shell is the one found a few years ago.
