CEPD: One project wrapping up, another set to start
The Captiva Erosion Prevention District provided updates on two beach projects last week.
On Jan. 29, Administrator Carolyn Weaver reported that the chain link fence at the Alison Hagerup Beach Park parking lot is set for replacement on Feb. 11-12. The privacy screen will also be replaced.
“We are looking forward to having this completed in the next few weeks,” she said.
In addition, Weaver reported that the repairs to posts and ropes located about 700 feet south of the Alison Hagerup Beach Park resumed last week. The posts had arrived and installation was expected to be finished by the end of the week. Damaged or lost in Hurricane Irma, the posts and ropes help to protect sea oats and other vegetation.
