The Sanibel-Captiva Kiwanis Club’s annual Kiwanis Spaghetti Dinner is one of the island’s largest and longest-running events – and the one function each year that everyone wants to attend.

“The Spaghetti Dinner is always a fun time, and it’s the best deal in town,” club President Doug Congress said. “More than that, it is great way for folks to show community support for youth education and recreational programs that benefit our local kids.”

This year’s bash will be held on Feb. 23 at The Community House on Sanibel. Dinner will be served from 4 to 8 p.m., followed by festivities in the Great Hall that include music, dessert and coffee, plus a raffle, silent auction and live auction. This year, the desserts will be the world-famous cakes from The Bubble Room on Captiva.

For over 30 years, the dinner has been a favorite time for islanders to gather for food, socializing and the fun of competing for prize items. Diners will receive a complete Italian feast, with spaghetti, sauce, meatballs, salad, toasted garlic bread and beverages – wine and soda – and it is all-you-can-eat.

Cost is $10 in advance or $11 at the door; children under 10 are free. Dessert and coffee are extra.

Advance tickets can be purchased from any Kiwanis member and also at Bailey’s General Store, Bank of the Islands, Big Red Q Printing, Island Pharmacy and Periwinkle Park.

Primary sponsors include: Lee Health Foundation, IL Cielo Restaurant, Bank of the Islands, Sanibel-Captiva Trust Company, Bailey’s General Store, Sanibel-Captiva Community Bank and The Bubble Room. In addition, other island businesses show their support by contributing food and prizes for the raffle and auctions.
