Harry Potter, robots and more at Sanibel library
The Sanibel Public Library will host Harry Potter, robots and the Lee County Elections Office.
LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts castle building recreates scenes from the iconic film series. Participate in the fun of building the Hogwarts Great Hall on Jan. 10-11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Age six and older, no registration required.
Learn about Sphero robots from 10 a.m. till noon on Jan. 18. Program a robot simple commands like roll, flip, and spin. Race against others and drive a Sphero ball around the library. For all ages, no registration required.
From 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Jan. 14, Lee County Supervisor of Elections staff will provide Voter Registration Services.
The library also hosts the following weekly programs for children:
– Family Story Time: Wednesdays at 11 a.m. and Thursdays at 11 a.m. For young readers and their caregivers, the program helps develop pre-reading skills through songs and stories.
– After-School Crew: Thursdays at 3 p.m. Children in kindergarten through third grade will enjoy favorite books, never-knew-existed books, games and crafts, with a snack provided.
– Reading to Bessie: Rain-free Thursdays from 3:45 to 5 p.m. Have fun reading to Bessie, a bearded collie and Reading Education Assistance Dog. Participants can sign up on the spot.
– After-School Clique: Tuesdays at 3 p.m. Geared for children in fourth through sixth grade, the group will craft, build, make and play, with books and a provided snack thrown in.
Library cards are available to residents of Sanibel and Lee County at no charge.
The Sanibel Public Library is open Mondays and Thursdays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is closed on Sundays.
