‘Shadows and Hope’ service to offer quiet respite
The Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ will offer its “Shadows and Hope” service on Dec. 16 at 4 p.m. in the sanctuary, at 2050 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel.
The annual service provides a space to retreat from the frenzy of the holiday season with others who are at times finding it difficult to find the “merry” in Christmas, for whatever the reason.
It is not a mournful or sad service; it is a quiet service that involves the sharing hymns, prayers, poems and more in acknowledgement of the pain and struggle that can arise from the holiday season.
There will be an opportunity to light a votive candle in remembrance of a loved one or in recognition of a personal struggle.
The service will be followed with a light dessert served in the Fellowship Hall.
