SCAL plein-air artists hold ‘paint out’ at historical village
Plein-air artists from the Sanibel-Captiva Art League recently set up their easels at the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village, hoping to capture its architecture and charm on canvas.
The village’s history attracted the artists, who hold a “paint out” every Thursday at different locations on Sanibel and Captiva. It is a challenge to paint outdoors, and everyone paints something different. Some might paint just a tiny part of a building, while others may paint the landscape.

Located at 950 Dunlop Road, Sanibel, the Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday. Cost is $10 for ages 18 and older; children and members are free.
