Walk Through Bethlehem to highlight birth of Christ
Sanibel Community Church will celebrate Christmas and the birth of Jesus Christ with its annual Walk Through Bethlehem on Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. and Dec. 7 from 5 to 9 p.m. at 1740 Periwinkle Way.
The family-friendly event is free and open to the public; pets will not be permitted.
The church grounds and chapel will be transformed into the ancient city of Bethlehem. Visitors will take part in a guided tour through the streets, where citizens will greet them and share their anticipation of the Messiah’s birth in their town. The tours last about 25 minutes and departs every five minutes.
To reduce the time waiting in line, passes are being given out the night of each performance.
“I am very excited for all to see the dramatically changed new sets and re-written script this year,” Elaine Donovan, past producer of Walk through Bethlehem, said. “This is the 11th year that we have produced Walk through Bethlehem and it is my last, as Daryl and I retire the end of January.”
“I am very grateful to the extremely talented and creative individuals who have stepped forward to update this Bethlehem experience for all who attend,” she added.
