Phillips appointed acting director of Sanibel Recreation
The city of Sanibel reported today that Patricia “Trish” Phillips has been appointed to serve as the acting director of the city’s Recreation Department effective Dec. 2.
Director Andrea Miller has resigned to accept a position in the private sector. The public is invited to attend a farewell reception in her honor on Nov. 30 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sanibel Recreation Center.
A 10-year employee of the Department, Phillips earned her bachelor of science degree in public recreation from the University of Florida. After serving three years as the recreation program coordinator at the Sanibel Recreation Center, she was promoted in 2013 and has served as the seniors program manager at the Center 4 Life for the past five years.
From 2005-2011, Phillips was also employed as the intramural volleyball coach at The Sanibel School. She has competed FEMA Certificates 100, 200, 700 and 800, and she is also certified by the American Red Cross for Professional Rescuers CPR/AED with first aid.
For the past 24 years, Phillips has served as the co-chair of the Sanibel Independence Day Parade. Her additional community service includes serving as the Sanibel-Captiva Little League coach for girls softball from 2002-2010. Phillips and her four children are all products of The Sanibel School.
