A project put together by the Fort Myers Kiwanis Club and carried on by the Kiwanis of Sanibel-Captiva recently provided each fourth-grader at The Sanibel School a copy of the “Children’s World Atlas.” The book not only includes maps of each continent and country, but facts about their history, population, culture, climate, topography, agriculture, foods and flags. Kiwanian Ken Burgener, who heard about other communities adopting a similar program, oversaw the project. The atlases were presented to two classes of about 20 students each. In the following weeks, the club received many thank you notes from the students expressing their appreciation. For more information about the Kiwanis of Sanibel-Captiva, visit sanibelkiwanis.org.
