Fly Fishing Films, Discussion

The Sanibel Sea School will host an evening of fly fishing films and discussion at 7 p.m. at 455 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. The 2017 documentary “Fly Fishing in the Anthropocene” will explore the ecosystems and interactions between humans and the environment in a remote region of Russia, and questions whether it is still possible for fishermen to find true wilderness. Community Social

Join SCCF on an Oxbow and Riverlore Cruise from 1 to 3:30 p.m. to experience the historic Caloosahatchee. The guided trip provides an opportunity to gain a perspective on the river, its history, folklore, issues and solutions, as you explore the historic upriver Caloosahatchee. Follow the river back to a time when a waterfall served as the headwaters of the Caloosahatchee and settlers braved living amongst the wilderness. Evenings at the Homestead

The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation will host “Evenings at the Homestead: The Water Crisis of 2018” from 7 to 8 p.m. in the pavilion at the Bailey Homestead Preserve, at 1300 Periwinkle Way, Sanibel. Hosted by the Lee Coast Chapter of the Military Officers Association of America and city of Sanibel, the Annual Veterans Day Ceremony will start at 10:30 a.m. at City Hall, at 800 Dunlop Road. Fred Bondurant, past chapter president of the Lee Coast Chapter of the MOAA, will officiate. This year’s guest speaker will be Michael Macray, who will speak about the World War 1 Armistice Agreement, which occurred 100 years ago on Nov. 11, 1918. 37th Taste of the Islands

The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife will host its 37th Taste of the Islands from 12:30 to 5 p.m. at the Sanibel Community Park at 2231 Periwinkle Way.
