Historical museum to host holiday event
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village’s free Luminary event on Dec. 7 from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at 950 Dunlop Road will celebrate “A Sanibel ’70s Christmas: Change Comes Riding In.” The event will celebrate the holiday season and the important events that occurred on the island in the 1970s, giving back to the community and giving visitors a chance to see the museum at no cost. The emphasis will be on the historic vote to incorporate Sanibel and on the shared-use paths, which started in the 1970s. Also celebrated will be the accomplishments of the Sanibel women of the era. The Sanibel Community Chorus will perform at 4 p.m., caroling in the old-fashioned way throughout the village.
