F.I.S.H. seeking donors for holiday Adopt-A-Family Program
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva’s Adopt-a-Family program provides the opportunity for client families to experience the many joys of the holiday season that they otherwise may not be able to afford.
Adopt-A-Family was started years ago to help make the holidays merrier for the families F.I.S.H. serves. Through the program, donors may “adopt” an individual or family and provide holiday gifts.
Many of the participants F.I.S.H. serves live on very low fixed incomes, are underemployed and/or have recently lost their income due to the red tide and/or blue-green algae disaster. For many, they will be the only gifts they receive at the holidays.
F.I.S.H. is asking individuals and businesses to become an Adopt-A-Family donor this year to ensure our neighbors will be able to create their own special holiday memories. To become a donor:
– Sign up by contacting Maria Espinoza at 239-472-4775; sign up as an individual or a group.
– F.I.S.H. will provide a wish list from client families.
– Shop for gifts.
– All items must be new purchases.
– Wrap and label gifts; label each gift individually with the participant’s gender and age, information that will be provided on the wish lists.
– Deliver gifts to F.I.S.H.
All wrapped and labeled gifts must be dropped off by Dec. 12 at the Walk-In Center.
