Course to serve as introduction to Celtic spirituality work
As in introduction to the 2019 Shared Scholar, the Rev. Dr. John H. Danner will offer a two-week course at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ on Nov. 28 and Dec. 5.
Each week’s class will be presented twice, at 10 a.m. and at 7 p.m.
Using Newell’s “The Book of Creation” as a text, the course will review his biography and provide a basic outline of his understandings of Celtic spirituality. It will be available for advance purchase.
Hosted by the Shared Scholar Committee, Newell will present the program “Faiths Finding Faith in Each Other” on Jan. 24 at 7 p.m. at the church. A reception and book signing will follow.
Newell will also lead the Shared Scholar Seminar on Jan. 25 at 10 a.m. His topic will be “A Celtic Vision of the Sacred Earth.” Lunch will be served following his talk.
The lecture and seminar are presented by the committee, sponsored by five congregations on the islands: Bat Yam – Temple of the Islands, Captiva Chapel by the Sea, The Christian Science Church of Sanibel, Saint Michael and All Angels, and Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ.
The series is also supported by the Leo Rosner Foundation.
