CCP to host ‘Welcome Back to Captiva’ Sunset Cruise
The Captiva Community Panel is taking reservations for its annual season kick-off cruise.
The 2018 “Welcome Back to Captiva” Sunset Cruise will take place on Dec. 3 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. aboard the Lady Chadwick from Captiva Cruises, which will depart from McCarthy’s Marina.
Panel Member Mike Lanigan explained that the event has been going on for several years.
“As people return to the island, we’re trying to get people together,” he said.
Lanigan explained that the cruise serves as an opportunity to update the community on the panel’s projects and what has been going on, like the wastewater study and updating the Captiva Code.
“We invited local elects officials, as well,” he said. “And also local leaders.”
Tickets are a $100 tax-deductible donation per person.
“It’s also fund raising a little bit to support the panel’s efforts,” Lanigan said.
“There’s a very board list of initiatives that we’re undertaking,” he added.
Captiva Cruises will provide the boat for free, as well as cocktails and refreshments. The Keylime Bistro, Sunshine Seafood Cafe, RC Otters and Cantina Captiva will provide the hors d’oeuvres.
“Everything that is donated goes to fund the panel,” Lanigan said.
The community is encouraged to reserve a seat.
“To become more informed on what’s going on and meet some of your local officials,” he said, noting that it is also an opportunity to meet neighbors, renew friendships and socialize with new people.
“And support the panel’s efforts to serve the Captiva community,” Lanigan added.
