The Fort Myers Symphonic Mastersingers announced the winner of the Sanibel-Captiva Trust Company Prize in Choral Composition. The winning selection, “Before You Kissed Me,” was written by Dr. Zack Stanton, a composer and conductor from Conway, Arkansas. A professor at the University of Iowa, he set the music for the piece to a Sara Teasdale poem and dedicated the work to his wife, Molly. The winning composition, selected by Artistic Director Jeff Faux, will be presented at the April concerts. Made possible by the sponsorship of the Sanibel-Captiva Trust Company, the competition invited composers to submit choral works between six and 12 minutes in length for performance by the Mastersingers. Over 200 entries were received from across the country. For more information, visit online at www.mastersingersfm.com.
