The Sanibel School PTA extends donation deadline
The Sanibel School Parent-Teacher Association recently extended its “goal date of Oct. 1” until Dec. 31, in order to continue to raise $40,000 by requesting $200 from 200 individuals and businesses.
The PTA’s reason for the one-time “donation invitation” this year versus fund-raising efforts in prior years is related to Hurricane Irma, which limited fund-raising events for the first half of the 2017-2018 school year. In addition, the Lee County School District provides only so much money per child and, since The Sanibel School is a small one, the funds received are limited in comparison to larger schools.
The PTA is responsible for raising additional monies to support the school’s multiple needs, such as initial supplies for the classrooms, variety of educational activities, purchase of books and workbooks, assistance for the music and theatre programs, and more.
As of Oct. 11, the “donation invitation” effort had raised nearly $7,000.
The PTA expressed gratitude for donations from: June Holder, Robin and Dave Coleman, Newmark family, Martinson family, Captiva Cruises – Rando and Junghan families, Riley family, Bakos family, Plassard family, Casperson family, Flynt family, Claritas Consulting Inc. – Quillen family, Fields family, Christian Menzel, Enviromow, Deb and Eric Ames, Daniel Fase, Kim Mujahira, Mossberg family, Doss family, Stewart family, Symanczyk family, McSorley family, Goessling family, Sanders family, Vanderbrinks family, Philip Kuntz and Vanessa Kelly, Kirkland family, Stevens family, Bell family, and Financial Legacy Wealth Advisors – Clark family.
The PTA board and its members are volunteers, so 100 percent of the funds go to the school.
All donations are tax deductible. To make a donation, mail or deliver contributions to: The Sanibel School, Attention PTA, 3840 Sanibel-Captiva Road, Sanibel, FL 33957.
