The Sanibel Captiva Lions Club reported a strong collection of eyeglasses in September, as part of its Recycle for Sight Program.

The month exceeded July and a slow August with a total of 338 items collected.

“We are very pleased with the number and thank our community for stepping up in this cause,” Rick Wagner said. “Many people in need benefit from the used eyeglasses, cases and hearing aids collected. Sight is undoubtedly one of the Lions defining causes and this is a part of our work.”

There were 253 clear and dark glasses collected, along with 75 eyeglass cases.
