New course on civility in public discourse at SCUCC
The Rev. Dr. John H. Danner, senior pastor of Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ, will continue to lead a three-session course on civility in public discourse.
It will kick off on Oct. 14, with the remaining sessions on Oct. 21 and 28 at 9 a.m.
The course will consider ways to think about political discussion between people who disagree in light of the four virtues of civility and the principles of civility found in Christianity.
“It is so vital, in a democracy, that we learn how to listen to one another,” Danner said. “And for people of faith, who are taught in all major religious traditions to treat others with respect and dignity, it is imperative.”
