Library to celebrate International Games Week with activities
The Captiva Memorial Library, along with the other Lee County Library System branches, will join over a thousand libraries around the world to mark International Games Week, set for Nov. 4-10.
Like many other libraries across the country and around the world, Lee County libraries will offer special gaming programs and events suitable for the whole family.
The schedule of activities at the island branch is as follows:
– Nov. 6-10: Board games
(daily during operating hours)
A variety of board games will be available to play.
– Nov. 6-10: Checkers
(daily during operating hours)
Play classic checkers, “the game of games,” or try other versions such as Fox and Geese, Give Away, Shifting Pyramids, Corner Checkers or Goban. Instructions included. Alternatively, reverse the field and play Tic Tac Toe or Super Tic Tac Toe.
– Nov. 9-10: Cornhole from 2 to 4 p.m.
Cornhole, or beanbag toss, is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores three points, while one on the platform scores one point.
All activities are open to the public.
The Captiva Memorial Library is open Tuesday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Wednesday from noon to 8 p.m., Thursday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
