Historical museum to host training for volunteers
The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is up and running after its summer hiatus, with hours on Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Executive Director Emilie Alfino explained that volunteers are needed to staff the museum in a variety of ways. There are opportunities to lead tours or staff a building. Some volunteers like to work in the museum store. There are also opportunities to help with event planning, decorating and administrative tasks. Training will take place on Nov. 5 and 12. Volunteers are offered special educational opportunities and lectures, as well as a 20 percent discount at the store; several social gatherings are held each year. Anyone interested can call Emilie Alfino at 239-472-4648. If the November training dates are inconvenient, the museum will offer additional training. The Sanibel Historical Museum and Village is at 950 Dunlop Road.
