The Captiva Memorial Library, at 11560 Chapin Lane, is offering the following free programs for adults and children during the month of November:

ADULT PROGRAMS

– Nov. 4-10: International Games Week

A variety of board games will be available to play, including Checkers (classic, Fox and Geese, Giveaway, Shifting Pyramids, Corner Checkers or Goban), Pictureka! (ages 6 and older), Apples to Apples Kids (ages 7 and older), Fort MyersOpoly (ages 8 and older), Sort It Out (ages 12 and older) and more.

– Nov. 9-10: Cornhole Game from 2 to 4 p.m.

Cornhole, or beanbag toss, is a lawn game in which players take turns throwing bags of corn at a raised platform with a hole in the far end. A bag in the hole scores three points, while one on the platform scores one point.

– Coloring for Grown-ups

(daily during operating hours)

The repetitive motion involved in coloring has a calming effect and adults have found the childhood activity a refreshing way to reduce anxiety, create focus or bring about more mindfulness. Participants may bring their own materials or use those provided.

– Checkers

(daily during operating hours)

Play classic checkers, “the game of games,” or try other versions such as Fox and Geese, Give Away, Shifting Pyramids, Corner Checkers or Goban. Instructions included. Alternatively, reverse the field and play Tic Tac Toe or Super Tic Tac Toe.

Check out a display on Native Americans. There will be activity and coloring sheets to complete. Make a teepee craft to take home.
