Weight restrictions placed on Sanibel-Captiva Road culvert
The city of Sanibel has placed weight restrictions on the box culvert located at Clam Bayou and Dinkins Bayou, between mile marker 5 and 6 along Sanibel-Captiva Road.
The culvert links Clam Bayou on the south side with Dinkins Bayou on the north side.
During the course of recent inspections and routine maintenance activities, additional repairs were identified. A consultant engineer was hired to evaluate the culvert’s condition and it was recommended that precautionary weight restrictions be placed on the structure until the repairs could be performed.
The posted weight limit for single unit trucks is 28 tons and 31 tons for combination trucks.
It is anticipated that once the repairs are complete, the weight restrictions will be lifted.
