Organized by the Sanibel Community Association, the first-ever Community Social will take place today, July 25, at 6 p.m. at The Community House on Sanibel.

Earlier this year, the facility announced that it would replace its monthly potlucks with a new social initiative that would enable attendees to enjoy the camaraderie, without having to worry about bringing a dish to share. For the new Community Socials, Resident Chef Jarred Harris will whip up the food.

The theme for the first event is “Taco Night Buffet.”

According to Harris, there will be crunchy and soft tacos, with the range of fillings to consist of shredded and ground beef, pork, chicken and fish. There will be char-grilled vegetables for a meatless option, along with black beans and rice. Cheese, sour cream and onion are some of the toppings.

He noted that there will also be homemade salsa and guacamole.

Adults are $15 per person; children ages 10 and under are $10. For an additional $5, attendees can enjoy churros served with ice cream and Harris’ dessert sauces, which are all made from scratch.

Alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

For more information, call 239-472-2155 or visit sanibelcommunityhouse.net.

The Community House is at 2173 Periwinkle Way.
