Friendly Faces luncheon turns into birthday celebration for two residents
F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva, in partnership with George & Wendy’s Seafood Grille on Sanibel, hosted the monthly Friendly Faces luncheon on May 8.
Held on the second Tuesday of each month at the restaurant, the event is open to the community and serves as an opportunity to meet new friends and reconnect with old ones.
In May, over 15 people joined F.I.S.H. for the luncheon, including birthday girls and island residents Clara Thomas and Fran Cameron. Their special celebration included feathery boas, birthday cake, balloons and a room full of friendly faces.
Thomas, who celebrated her 99th birthday, blew out the candles and wished that she will be as happy next year for her 100th. When asked what she attributes her longevity to she said, “The good Lord doesn’t want me yet, he still has things he wants me to do.”
Cameron attributed her longevity to “living in the moment and just being happy today, because you don’t know if there’s going to be a tomorrow.” As for her view on age she said, “Age is just a number and mine is nonpublished!”
The price fixed lunch consists of an entree, side, non-alcoholic drink and dessert.
