Ecology meets theology in new course at Sanibel Congregational UCC
The Rev. Dr. John H. Danner and Rev. Dr. Ran Niehoff will present “The Stewardship of Creation” on April 11 and April 18 at 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Sanibel Congregational United Church of Christ.
The classes will be in Fellowship Hall at the church, at 2050 Periwinkle Way.
They will explore environmental concerns from a biblical and theological perspective and address issues like climate change, land stewardship and the Bible’s holistic approach to the environment.
The church’s senior pastor, Danner has served SCUCC since 2010. He has degrees from Bradford College, the University of Maine and Bangor Theological Seminary, with a Ph.D. in religious studies from Boston University. Danner has been published in The Christian Century and other journals, as well as has contributed to several books.
Niehoff served the church from 1991-2007. He earned his philosophy degree from Washington University and a master’s degree in divinity and a doctorate in ministry at Eden Theological Seminary. He also studied at the American School of Classical Studies in Greece and Jerusalem Center for Biblical Studies in Israel.
All theological studies courses are free and open to the public.
