In The Garden on Sanibel has planted a spirit tree – an olive tree because it represents love and charity – that will help raise funds for island non-profits. The April recipient is The Community House and Sanibel Community Association. Rich in history, The Community House has been serving Sanibel and Captiva since 1927. Operated by the Sanibel Community Association, it is a non-profit that’s mission is “to enrich community spirit through educational, cultural and social gatherings” at the historic venue. Lisa Walsh, owner of In The Garden and R.S. Walsh Landscaping, explained that canvas tags will be available in the gift shop for $2, with 100 percent of the proceeds to benefit the monthly recipient. In The Garden, at 3889 Sanibel Captiva Road, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. For more information, call 239-395-5859 or visit www.rswalsh.com.
